Omaha Blue Crew…The Basketball Tournament entry – year 2.
Summertime basketball, ESPN, and The Basketball Tournament kicked off yesterday. This is the ninth year of the TBT, a tourney that has improved each year. This summer’s version should be no different. The returning champions – Boeheim’s Army (Syracuse U alums) are back to defend their title. Should be great fun.
In their debut last year, Omaha Blue Crew played in two of TBT’s games of the year. General manager and head coach Josh Jones got a taste of what TBT success was like, and with a home crowd behind them in Omaha, this team of Creighton alums could be a legit contender in 2022.
Omaha Blue Crew is sponsored by DJ’s Dugout and the Omaha Sports Commission.
In Omaha 2nd year participants, the Omaha Blue Crew (Creighton alums) are hosting. The revamped squad features returnees and several Jays alumni. Gm’d by Michael Vandervort & Josh Jones. Coached by Josh Jones, along with assistants Doug McDermott, James Benford (Bellevue College HC). Returning players include Admon Gilder, Dion Bute, Deverell Biggs, Ken Perkins, Tre’shawn Thurman, and Greg Smith along with several Jays alums in Ronnie Harrell, Marcus Foster, Jahenns Manigat, Manny Suarez, Austin Chatman, and others.
Promises to be a fun time for all. Support the Blue Crew folks… they are our TBT Team! gtmo
In what turned into a close game slugfest, the Blue Crew went cold from the field over the last 4 minutes – going 0-9, then 1-10 to close their scoring. They had their chances to close or retake the lead, by didn’t. I was hoping for a longer run from the team, but it is what it is. So the BC goes 1-1 again in the TBT, closing their run out in the 2nd round.
Great showing by the Blue Crew team and organization, Jays alums, the Omaha Sports Commission, DJ’s Dugout for sponsoring, and the greatest fans in the USA. #RDBC #RDJ.
