Short note on the Dance

2nd Weekend Dancin’ – BEast on its’ way…

While the Big East fanbases were calculating and judging for a 5-7 team showing in this 2024 NCAA Basketball Tournament, the committee thought otherwise. The NCAA Selection Cmte awards dance bids to only 3 Big East teams, while lesser conferences showed 4, 5, 6, or more bids. Even the Mountain West and the Pac -12 got more bids than the Big East. A story for another day (see bottom link).

Who got what bids: ACC-5, B1G-6, B12-8, BE-3, MWC–6, PAC12-4, SEC-8, & WCC-2

Who’s in the Sweet Sixteen: ACC-4, B1G-2, B12-2, BE-3, MWC-1, PAC12-1, SEC-2, & WCC-1

Win the Weekend: All 3 Big East representative teams have made the 2nd weekend.

Defending NCAA Champion Connecticut is rolling steadily along. The media pundits are extolling UConn’s virtues and the Huskies game consistently. Many stating the Huskies are destined to repeat as seemingly no other team appears to be in their stratosphere. The talking heads say no remaining tourney team can match UConn’s current dominance.

The ESPN guys – Borzello, Gasaway, and Medcalf all see the Big East teams advancing, with Gasaway poo-pooing Creighton v UTenn.

Needless to say I’m a bit more hyped on the BEast contingent. Looking for all 3 to make the Final Four. Jays vs Gonzaga in the regional finals. I see UConn v lil Cr8n in the Championship Game. Lil Creighton wins their 1st NCAA Basketball Championship. After all the Jays own UConn – they are 7-2 vs UConn all-time.

Ho Hum, Jays beat Uconn, again.

Down goes AP/Coaches #1 team.

Ahh yes, UConn. (stretch n yawn). The Connecticut Huskies men’s basketball team arrived in the Big O 3 days ago – for the tilt on February 20, 2024; their annual beat down at the CHICO.

Since Connecticut’s return to the Big East – lil Creighton has “owned” the Huskies! Creighton sports a 7-2 overall record (includes this game) versus UConn. The Jays are unblemished @ 4-0 @CHICO (includes this game), a foregone conclusion.

Again, the 15th ranked Bluejays put a routine spanking on the #1 ranked Huskies, in typical lil Creighton fashion (in Bristol Fashion)! Had any other of this seasons previous #1 teams played us – we’d probably have choked. But with Connecticut as the top team, a Jays victory was a ‘lock’.

The hoardes of Storrs – as elitist, arrogant, & self righteous as they are, cannot fathom and are ballistically enfuriated, that their ‘mighty’ Huskies get routinely whupped by lil Creighton. They still perceive the Jays as a mid major school. lol.

This latest triumph (Feb 20th, 2024) has a bit of flair, as this UConn team came to the CHICO rated as the unanimous #1 team in college basketball.

As usual, they left Omaha with another “L” hung around their necks. Coach Hurley threatening to “knock out” the jeering kids in the students’ section. Way to go, Dannyboy!

Aside from being another routine whipping of the UConn team, the game had significance as the Jays 1st win over a number one team, in 7 all time tries. It was also Mac’s personal 1st win over a #1 team, in 8 tries. Coach also notched his 600th win of his career with the win.

Another good day for the hilltop. A tip o’ the hat to ya Storrs!

PS: The 21st ranked women’s Jays lost unfortunately, to #15 UConn women’s team.
