Hilltop’s Future is Bright & Bloomin’

Jays name Marcus Blossom of Holy Cross as new AD

It is always difficult to replace a living legend, and in this case one who has his imprint on the entire program. Creighton has selected Marcus Blossom, current Holy Cross Athletic Director, to replace retired AD Bruce Rasmussen on the Hilltop. The young AD-Select has his work cut out for him. Good luck and much success Marcus.

Creighton Athletic Director-Marcus Blossom

AD-Select Blossom appears to be a great choice on the part of CU and their search committee. He has a great track record as an administrator and accolades have repeatedly been placed upon him. While I was in favor of internal promotion to fill the billet, it is difficult to find any fault in the selection of such an excellent candidate as Marcus Blossom.

Congratulations are in order for Creighton and for new Athletic Director Marcus Blossom.

AD Blossom inherits a well-oiled machine in the CU Athletic Department. Bruce ran a good crew and staff. While a thorough operations review is in order, I do not foresee gross operational changes ahead. While a few staffers have announced transition plans, most will remain in place, allowing for excellent transition and continuity.

Kevin Sarver’s departure brings focus on the upcoming College World Series this fall, but staffing coherence should lessen the impacts of his departure. Creighton has a legion of career professionals on-staff. I do not envision many staffers leaving the department.

Again, a great hire by Prez Hendrickson and committee. Welcome Marcus Blossom and may you have an equally long tenure as had your predecessor.

Creighton Lands 1st Commit for 2022

California PG Ben Shtolzberg verbals to the Jays.

Creighton picks up their 1st 2022 commitment in California PG Ben Shtolzberg.

Creighton has been in on Shtolzberg since last May. It has since come to light that the staff was very high on getting Ben’s commitment, in spite of having offers out to several highly ranked point guards. Congrats to Ben, his family, and the Bluejays on his commitment to the Hilltop.

A very good pickup by Creighton as its’ 1st 2022 commit. Rivals.com had stated that Ben will be in line for inclusion into their Top 150 when the next update comes out. The Creighton coaching staff was unanimously “All-In” on getting the committment from Ben. A testament to their belief in his talent, abilities, and future potentials.

Congratulations again to Ben Shtolzberg and to Creighton University on Ben’s commitment today. Great start for the 2022 recruiting campaign.
