3 CU Sports Boards…is it Enough?

world-animation_sm

Creighton Sports had a group of 6 to eight boards running at one point a few years ago (2005-2010).  Even this one has changed 2 or 3 times over it’s lifespan thus far. The BluejayCafe was the mainstay. It has transformed into www.creighton.rivals.com. Several others merged into the WhiteandBlueReview.com and it’s www.Bluejayunderground.com board.   And now, Vinny has taken control of the underwhelming Scout.com CU site, www.creighton.scout.com.  3 major boards to serve the CU Sports community (plus the official www.goCreighton.com board).  Is it enough?  The major media teamsites pages suck (CBS, SI, ESPN, etc.)  Most Creighton action occurs on the above sites.

I take this opportunity to appeal to Creighton fans, alums, and interested sports fans everywhere.  Support these sites.

It is my contention that 3 boards is not enough!  However, support in terms of joining and posting at the above communities is needed…for all 3 sites.  It is necessary to hear the opinions and thoughts of Jays fans everywhere – Alaska, California, Wash. DC, Venezuela, Denver, Florida, Latin America, Bahrain, Europe, Canal Zone, Guam, Japan, Africa – where ever they may be.

Be a proactive Jay and participate… on one or ALL of the Creighton boards.  Let folks know your thoughts and opinions…be a part of the Jays as they move forward in the Big East. Denver has been recently active in discussing game viewing sites and such. Keep us posted on events, happenings, gatherings, news in your city related to CU, CU Alum get togethers, all CU related stuff.  No CU Alum chapter in your area? Tell us what you folks are doing anyways…officially or otherwise.  Especially if a Jays team will be playing in your area next season…perhaps your group and the Ath Dept or Alumni Relations can co-sponsor a related event.

Now, I know that these sites can get a bit parochial in their tenor and discussions. That is the nature of blogsites, BBS’, and the like.  Your participation, perspective, and opinions are welcome to revitalize our sites. Full participation is encouraged by Jaysfans where ever you are – once a Jay…Always a Jay.

The internet makes everyone close, everyone in the neighborhood, there is no excuse not to be a part of the Jays in the Big East.  PARTICIPATE.  Besides – it gets a bit mundane listening to the same 20 – 30 folks.

You – the Jays fan in the diaspora…come on down…welcome home.  Join these sites…participate in the discussions…support the Jays!

Prelude – Class of 2016

Hoops 24/7, 365.  Yep it’s August and one can feel the anticipation beginning to build for the upcoming college basketball season.  The Creighton boards are humming and the faithful are like thoroughbreds – chomping at their bits – eagerly anticipating the starting bell.  But, of course we must suffer through the end of summer, and then endure 2 months of unholy pigskin, but the season is approaching. Bluenotes normally begins gearing up in August, usually crowned with gtmo’s ridiculous prognostications on 15 August.  This season will not differ.

We prime the pump with a series of preludes on the new guys – the Class of 2016. Initial interviews with the 3 newest Jays:  Jordan, Kobe, and Davion.  Who’d a thunk that we would ever see Jordan and Kobe in Jays uni’s?  lol.  These young men fit the historic mold of Creighton recruits, as they are men that have been often overlooked, underevaluated, and under-recruited during their HS careers – even while showing significant growth, maturation, and improvements in their games.  Our coaching staff – ever alert and with a discerning eye for talent – found our next fortune, these 3 diamonds in the rough.  Jordan, Kobe, and Davion may not have the cache of high recruiting services number ratings, but they are excellent players and fit the Bluejays style of play.

This class is special.  While underappreciated by the media pundits and talking heads, young men like these 3 have been Creighton’s bread and butter over the years.  Guys like these have consistently carried our program to great heights and to sustained achievement over the last 20 years.  We expect no less than excellence from Jordan, Kobe, and Davion during their tenures on the Hilltop. We expect them to work hard, to be staunch members of the squad, and to contribute to winning championships at Creighton. That is why they were recruited and are now Bluejays!
