Nice weekend, indeed.  One of our greats – Mr. Paul Silas – gets inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame.  Our current gaggle of Bluejays unfortunately stalled in the CB Hall of Fame Classic championship game.  And we have seen the face of future Bluejay Basketball.  Lastly the Jays get ranked at #25 in the AP Poll, #23 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.

I expected to win the HOF Classic, but the Jays shot horrendously…missing a lot of contested AND uncontested shots.  Surprisingly they led most of the game against #22 Baylor and had a shot to win it even with a minute left.  They went 3-1 in the HOF Classic with a win over #23 UCLA.  See White and Blue Review or Go Creighton for the details on the game.  Add in the road win over then #20 Northwestern and a great start indeed.

WE got a real steal with our Frosh players.  Ty-Shon and Mitch are playing and contributing well.  Both are playing like veteran players and are not intimidated by the game or the speed of the game.  If they continue to play well they will contend for FoY in the nation and the conference.

The Jays bounced back with an easy win over SIUE on Saturday and I expected to see them ranked with a HOF Title, but surprised since they didn’t win it, in spite of a stellar showing the 1st two weeks of the season.  Now to keep it.  The team faces #15 Gonzaga on the road in Spokane on the 1st of December.  Go Jays!.

Jays also listed in the NBC Power Rankings at #21.

 

 

 

 

The season is young and the Jays are off to a nice start.  3-0 on the year thus far, with the semi’s and finals of the NABC HoF Classic today and tomorrow.  Jays offense has been good and the team is averaging 97 ppg on the year.

Creighton faces off vs a 3-0, #23 UCLA (AP) team in Kansas City tonight and will face either #22 Baylor (AP) or Wisconsin tomorrow.  Win both and the Jays get ranked next week.

Paul Silas was inducted into the College Basketball HOF in KC yesterday as part of the festivities of HOF Weekend at the Classic.

 

The Big East went 4-4 again in the Gavitt Games, Creighton did their part by upsetting then #20 Northwestern…on the road.

 

IMO expected Creighton to start hot as is their normal M.O.  With 3 starters (Marcus, Khyri, and Toby) plus 6-7 veterans returning overall, the Jays will hit the ground running this season.  Much like last year they will be hot early and win their non-conference tourney.

 

 

The 1st six games…

HOF Classic:  Yale.  good team and hang for a half.  Jays pull away in the 2nd half.  Jays W  1-0

HOF Classic:  Alcorn St.  Outmatched and get blown out early.  CU  2-0

Gavit Game:  Northwestern @AllState Arena in Rosemont, IL.  They are believing their press clippings and are not as familiar with the Rosemont as they should be.  Jays won at the line at the end.  CU  3-0

HOF Classic:  UCLA @KCMO.  Young Uclan team trying to figure out their personality and chemistry.  CU 4-0

HOF Classic:  Baylor @KCMO.  Lost a lot of scoring.  Good game, and Jays beat them with FTs.  CU  5-0

Jays win the HOF Classic.

SIU Edwardsville. Rout.  CU 6-0

Monday November 27th:  Jays enter the AP and Coaches Polls.
