Creighton is known as a predominantly Basketball school. So is UNC-Charlotte. We have a bit of history with Charlotte in basketball, dating from the mid to late 1970’s. Had a good series with them, back in the day. Charlotte is one of those teams that I always keep an eye on during basketball season. Heck, I didn’t know they even had a Soccer Team? Well, I know it NOW.
Charlotte won the war of attrition with UConn on Sunday, to advance to the school’s 2nd College Cup. At this juncture of the NCAA Soccer Tournament, one can throw out the records. Every team entering the College Cup is good! Having won the Connecticut Region – there is no doubt this UNC-Charlotte 49er squad is a top competitor!

Charlotte defeated defending champion Akron in the 3rd Round match during the tournament.
The other Semi-final pits tourney Top seed and #3 UNC against a rugged 13 Seed and #4 UCLA squad.
Both Semi-finals tests should provide great competitive matches by well coached teams. Good hunting to the competing squads…May the best teams win.
This 2011 College Cup should be a great one.
