Tonight is 1st Responders Night at Morrison Stadium. Jays face Seton Hall.

The Bluejays enter Tuesday’s match on a five-match winning streak, which includes three shutouts. Creighton is 6-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 during BIG EAST play.
The Bluejays opened league play with consecutive shutouts (Butler and Villanova) for the first time since 2013.

Big East Goalkeeper of the Week is CU’s Paul Kruse (2nd Award)
Hoops – Practice has begun!! Of all the major media outlets only NBC has the Jays in the top tier of the BEast (3rd). Lindy’s, Street&Smiths, Athlon, all join Blue Ribbon and the others in pegging the Jays in the Bottom 4 of the conference. Boy, are they all in for a shock.
Most had the Jays in a similar spot last season and we finished 3rd (tie). As per my August 15th predictions I see the Jays a strong 2nd in the BEast, about 25-6 on the regular season. We have the BE level talent and size, 4 upperclassmen, good experience level, a stellar incoming class, and excellent coaching. Jays reload.
Recruiting:
2019 – Minnesota’s 2019 PF Zeke Nnaji visited CU last week. 247’s # 30 player.
The Bluebloods are on Zeke like white on rice, but the kid and family are very cool. Taking everything in stride. Jays had an in-home on the 27th Sep and are in constant contact. Zeke likes our staff. Staying the course.
Creighton visited with 2019 SG Zach Harvey, 247’s #50/Rivals #43 player.
Unfortunately the Harvey family has re-opened Zach’s recruitment. Cancelled all 3 planned official visits. Reclassifying to 2020 to see if Bluebloods will rekindle interest. Jays will stay the course with Zach. I believe he will still commit in 2019.
2020 – Creighton had an in-home visit on the 25th Sep with Minnesota’s Top 100 PF Ben Carlson. Carlson had visited the Hilltop in Mid August, with OWH story –
2021 – Omaha’s PG extraordinaire, Chucky Hepburn, 6-1/175 did an unofficial visit to the Hilltop on Sep 17th 2018. He’s from Bellevue West, the home of CU PG’s (Antoine Young and Josh Dotzler) Creighton lean. https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/chucky-hepburn-216242chucky-hepburn No Jays offer yet, but it’s early, as he is going into his Sophomore season in HS.
Adama Sanogo (2021/Our Savior New American, N.Y.)
There’s already been quite a bit of buzz about this freshman big man, and Sanogo increasingly showed why as the OSNA/Neumann-Goretti game wore on. The athletic, mobile, 6-foot-8 center competed on both ends from the get-go, though 12 of his 16 points came in the second half as OSNA built a lead it couldn’t sustain.
Sanogo got most of his production off put-backs, but not of the easy tip-in variety; there were several where he had to put the ball on the floor, and he also displayed terrific body control and touch in mid-air on several finishes.
Then, in the fourth quarter, he mixed in a surprising behind-the-back pass to a teammate for an assist, and also came up with a pair of blocks. If he continues to grow, or adds a face-up game, look out.
No relation to Ish Sanogo (Seton Hall), who was from Ivory Coast by way of NJ.
Late Entry: 2021 Matthew Mors took his 2nd unofficial visit to Creighton today (Sunday, 30Sep18). The Bluejays were the first Division I school to offer Mors a scholarship. Mors is a 6-7/218 Combo Fwd.
Creighton has 10 open offers for 2019, including the four mentioned above. We have 2 rides to give. Asked around the local boards as to who else the coaches were focusing on, but no leaks nor hints. Coaches being very tight-lipped after the situation with Zach.
IMHO I think they are looking intently for copies of Nnaji & Harvey (a PF/C and big wing) just in case. So in addition to Enaruna and Beverly above, think bigs Tre Mitchell (C) #93. IMO bigs Trayce Jackson-Davis (F) #18 and Akok Akok (F) #35 are out-of-reach. As for Big Wings it’s SF Terry Armstrong (SF) #62, Emanuel Miller (SF) #104, and combo guard Sedrick Hammond (Combo G).
Late Entry: 01Oct18 2019’s – Both PF Zeke Nnaji and SF Terry Armstrong have cut their lists of prospective schools. CU didn’t make the cuts. Movin’ on.
New Uni’s: New Home uni’s were revealed 2 weeks ago. No word yet on changes to the roadies OR on the new alt uni that CU is eligible for from Nike. The new uni’s are an scheduled Nike upgrade for the Jays.
I can hear it. I can smell it. I can see it. Can you feel it? College hoops is just around the corner!
