Icebreaker: Jays land 2019 PG in Shereef Mitchell!
Nebraska 2018 Gatorade PoY leads the 2019 Parade.
Creighton Coach Greg McDermott received great news while in NYC at the Adidas Gauntlet Finale yesterday. 2018 Nebraska Gatorade PoY Shereef Mitchell, 1st Team All-State (and Captain), committed to the Jays from New York.

Shereef committed 3 days after receiving his offer from the Bluejays, his “dream School”. Shereef beat out Brady Heiman this season as the state’s best player. He is currently considered a Top 150/3 star, shooting PG and his 2018 stats…24.6 ppg, 3.8 assists, while at Omaha Burke HS. He stands 6-1/160.

“Creighton is something I didn’t want to pass up and the reason I committed so soon,” Mitchell said. “Being close to home and having their support is amazing and something that I really considered. The fans at Creighton are the best. They are loud, rowdy and really support their Bluejays, that is something I want to be a part of.”

The plan is for Mitchell to do a prep school year at Sunrise Academy in Wichita, then to join the Jays for the 2019 Season.
“I really feel like I will be a way better player than what I am right now after my year at Sunrise,” Mitchell said
The Mitchell pickup is a great one in that he is an excellent PG, both offensively and defensively. It is uncertain as to whether he is done growing as well. Shereef is the son of the great Alvin Mitchell, Jr. (UCincy/UNL) and grandson of the Omaha Central legend Alvin Mitchell (mid 1960’s). https://www.omaha.com/eedition/sunrise/articles/mitchell-joins-d-i-talent-on-top-team/article_6cad792b-cc25-5531-b53d-974adcb8c293.html
Creighton currently has 2 remaining open scholarships to fill.
