Stacatto: Recruiting Update

Jon Nyatawa recently updated his take on Creighton recruiting for 2020 and 2021.  He listed the short list of the seven remaining 2020 main candidates and his take on their current status.

Creighton has taken a precautionary move of probing the Euro market in the past (Krampelj successfully and Enaruna unsuccessfully) and have embarked upon current exploration now.

Coach Huss has made 2 or more junkets to Europe this year…watching the FIBA under 20’s and under 18’s…and the U18 Euro Championships.  IMO this type of move is to shore up our current shortfalls in US recruiting.  Assuming he is looking at bigs and the “Best Available” players.  There has been no word concerning anything regarding Europe and eligible players and no indication of who the staff may have targeted, if any.  Gotta give credit to the staff – they are leaving no stone unturned.

Here’s Eurobasketball’s take.
See the Div A Top Ten Lists (right margin of the page).  Click on names or put name in the search box for additional details of a given player.

The list below contains many of the under 18 top players, but is not exhaustive.  The website above has all the players, listed by country and other search criteria.  My guess is that if we land a Euro guy it will probably be one (or more) of these players. ** I like these guys as a pick.  Especially Garuba, Sengun, Prkacin, Serrano, and Diop.

Moussa Diabate is the top French guy and is at IMG Academy in Florida.  He is considered by many as a 5*, #11 247 composite,  2021 recruit and is probably out of our reach.

LE  25 Aug 19:  According to his Rivals Recruiting page, Jays have offered.

Creighton may or may not choose to offer any of these guys, but the staff has definitely done their due diligence by taking the junkets and checking out the talent.  Hopefully such an aggressive move will bear fruit.
